Hey Mr. V,
This is Brian. I have a question for you. Have you made a lot of
adjustments now that you are living on a boat? Like have you had to
change your lifestyle?
Sincerely,
Brian
Hi Brian, and thanks for following along!
As for living on board I need to say that it's not the same as living
aboard one's own boat; this is an entirely different animal!
Because there are 12 other individuals and we each
have very little space and privacy I have had to change
many things about my daily existence. One thing I have
to do is be fairly quiet. We sleep on different shifts
so there is often somebody sleeping! Another is that I
have to be tidy (which I usually am anyway!) because
there is so little usable space. Being on time is a
MUST on board as we are responsible for so many things,
so I can't really dawdle at meals or dressing!
Showering is something else that many people would find
different. Water is a luxury that must be used
sparsely, so we shower every other day....or sometimes
every third day! When you shower aboard a boat you
take "Navy showers," meaning that you get wet, shut off
the water, soap down, and then rinse....using the least
amount of water possible. It's easy with practice, but
a constant reminder of how wasteful our society is!
