Chesapeake Bay ConnectionsChesapeake Bay is home to many different kinds of plants, fish, birds, and other critters, and provides thousands of people with jobs and recreation every year. The Bay and everything that lives in it have a big effect on the lives of all Marylanders, even if we don't always realize it. Did you ever think about how you are connected to Chesapeake Bay? If you live in Annapolis, St. Michaels, or Havre de Grace, you might be aware of it in more ways than other kids are. You might even see the Bay every day on your way to school, or just outside your kitchen window! But what if you live in Cumberland? Did you know that YOU are connected to the Bay too? We are ALL connected to Chesapeake Bay in many ways, no matter where we live in Maryland! Some of us are connected to the Bay by waterways. Some of us are connected to it because of the foods we eat. Other people are connected to it because of what they like to do for fun. And we are all connected to Chesapeake Bay by history! After all, it was the Bay that attracted settlers to these shores in the first place!
