Voices of Chestertown

Each year the citizens of Chestertown reenact the famous Tea Party of 1774. Click below to hear the sounds of the crowd as they argue in the street. What do the voices of people seem to be saying? Since the sound clip is large, it may take a while to begin. Be patient.

Although the women did not usually take an active role in politics in the 1700's, they certainly had their thoughts and feelings about the important events happening around them. They did not always agree with the men whom they thought were sometimes hot headed and proud. Click below to hear two women discussing the events.

Now that you have learned about the Chester Town Tea Party from web sites and sound bites, answer Questions #5, #6, and #7 on your Tea Party Worksheet.
