If you would like to learn more about efforts to improve working conditions in factories and canneries at the turn of the 20th century, you can read two primary source documents. These are documents written by people at the time to persuade others to support labor laws.

    This is an editorial from a newspaper called Life and Labor, written by Mary E. Dreier in 1913. Ms. Dreier was an advocate for laws to protect women and children in factories.
