1986 - An Evening Aboard the Bay Lady

If you wanted to spend a special evening in Baltimore in 1986, you might have bought a ticket to go on-board the Bay Lady. The is a diesel engine powered boat that takes passengers out on the Patapsco River. On board the boat, passengers can look out over the harbor from the upper observation deck. This deck is not closed in, so passengers can enjoy the fresh air. Passengers can also have dinner on this boat. Most of the lower deck is arranged like a restaurant, with dinner tables and even space for a band. Passengers can eat a fancy dinner while they enjoy musical entertainment.

To spend an evening on the Bay Lady in 1986 cost about $30 per person. The boat is a large one, but it is not complicated to run. About 500 people can ride on the Bay Lady at one time. The crew consists of a captain, a first mate, and a deckhand. These three people handle the boat.
