13 Minute Video Privateers in the War of 1812
Privateers in the War of 1812 tells the story of the "Chesapeake Campaign" in which the British attempted to "clean out that nest of pirates" - the shipyards of Baltimore and Fells Point - that built the notorious Baltimore Clippers. Privateers caused havoc with British merchant shipping during the War of 1812 (they captured or sank 1,700 British merchant vessels during that conflict). Includes the Bombardment of Ft. McHenry and the writing of the Star Spangled Banner. Also Captain Thomas Boyle's daring "single ship" blockade of the British Isles. The video concludes with the renaissance of Baltimore Clippers with the construction and voyages of the original Pride of Baltimore and Pride of Baltimore II. Produced by Pride of Baltimore, Inc. with assistance from the Chesapeake Bay Gateways Program.
Privateers in the War of 1812, 13-minute VHS cassette: $35.00
