Pride II Seeks Experienced Volunteer Deckhands

PRIDE OF BALTIMORE II seeks experienced traditional sailing vessel sailors as volunteer deckhands for her 2015 summer season.

There are six deckhand slots aboard PRIDE starting mid May for those who want to work alongside the Ship’s Officers re-rigging PRIDE for this coming summer season. These six onboard slots are also available throughout this summer. If you have experience with traditional sailing vessels you will already know the usual needs of a vessel like PRIDE…cosmetics, rigging, sails, caulking, ship’s systems, carpentry, polite interactions with public both ashore and aboard…and of course…sailing.

Previous experience aboard traditional sailing vessels and their public interaction missions is required. An interview with Captain Miles is required to establish expectations and mutual benefit. Length of commitment is flexible. A day. A week. A month. The summer. Yours to commit. PRIDE requires 24/7 care. For those with more than a day to commit there will be a berth and board and a lot of doing, day after day after day.

2015 is a year of promoting the future voyages of PRIDE to her homeport public. Having a full compliment of Volunteer Deckhands, alongside the Ship’s Officers, will keep PRIDE presentable to her homeport as well ready for future voyages!

If you have traditional sailing vessel experience and want to get more, come volunteer as a Deckhand aboard PRIDE OF BALTIMORE II. Become an integral part of PRIDE’s 2015 crew keeping up the long established traditions of prudent and pro-active seamanship. Help present PRIDE to all and sundry to the value she brings to her homeport when she voyages far and wide.

One official maritime requirement of all applicants will be proving drug-free status and willingness to be a part of a random drug testing program that the ship is a part of.

Application is by email to Captain Miles at jan@pride2.org

Please provide a letter detailing your interest to be considered as a Volunteer Deckhand and how such an opportunity would benefit you. Please include what you think you would bring to support the ship and her mission.
